Please help!!!!

Girls,

Last month we did an art show and there was a Father and Son art team, this Father wanted to encourage his son in art because he knew that just turning four this week – he was not running and being very physical.  He thought he could encourage him with art.  Just today I found out the little boy Brooks Russell needs our prayers and any extra art supplies, because he has a tumor in his spine.  Only about 100 people have this condition and will be undergoing a surgery at Vanderbit this next Thursday 5/17.  Please help me send good thoughts to this child, to this Mother of three children, 4 and under, to this Dad.  Needless to say all of us know how horrible the hospital bills are and the stress of recovery.  So if you have any extra little something of art supplies that we could fill a treasure chest to give to this little boy, you don’t have to go buy anything, but we all have an extra brush, or pad, or paint.  As Artist we know how our art heals us, let’s help heel this family.  Bring anything you would like to give this family to the MAY Meeting.  Thank you for your prayers.

Sharing Art – Ros Stallcup Seminar

Friday was the Chickadees and a Christmas Mood, loads of fun and great food.

Saturday was the Hibiscus and more new people – girls came from everywhere – Ohio, Alabama, Knoxville, Jaskson, People will travel to take from Ros. Loved the Damask stencil on the border, had to use the canvas I had.

Friday was at the Beach and fun.  I wasn’t sure about using the SILKS on the balls, but if all else fails – add more sparkle – after I did the border the green and blue sparkle with mica I loved it.

Thanks to all - the teacher Ros Stallcup, the VP Cindy for wonderful food and program, for Fran running to get the Twinkling H2O’s for the group and all the friends old and new.

NEVER to old to paint

Betty Creel

Member Betty Creel has been teaching watercolor to her church members by sharing her ARTIST HEART.
You must teach your-self, you can have thoushands of books (whichI do) but you share your successes, failures, etc.  Unless you put a brush in your hand you can not learn art.  Betty like so many of our girls puts the Art in Heart.  Jean Parker

Have patience – 14 years Moth -Frozen Planet series TV

Colored Pencils - kelly H. Design

Last Sunday night we watched this beautiful TV series called Frozen Planet and they showed a fuzzy Caterpillar that froze and thawed for 14 years before it became a moth and then mated and died.  Every shot of the series was a paitning and the time and effort it took.  That is how art is sometimes you learn and learn and then you have enough tricks in your bag to make it work.  This Kelly H. Design reminds me of that series and the time it takes.  I took several classes with her at HOOT.  One Al has in his Living Room (Dragonfly) and the Sea Shells in a beautiful glass vase.  She comes from a Graphic Design background and comes up with some great designs.  Those camera men on the Frozen Plant do too.

I am so grateful that others share what I don’t have the ability or desire to do.  No way am I sitting out in the cold for some photo, but others do.  Thanks to all that share what they are good at for those of us that are still gathering skills to put into their art bag.

That works in cooking too, thanks to Sister S. for the rolls.

Venetian Facade

Venetian Facade is a Karlyn Holman class I taught at Hobby Lobby and the girls did awesome with the project.  I posted it on my face book page and got some very sweet comments.  Kelly Lynn Escue Hargrove posted that she wanted it, and my reply was it is yours.  Well within minutes I had e-mails and phone calls saying why did you give that away.

Just so you know I got joy just picking out the project, I got joy painting the project and I got joy teaching the project, I got joy sharing the painting with friends and then when my little sister that was born on my 19th Birthday – whom I never shared a home with, but we did share a Daddy that died recently, and to my knowledge, she has never asked me for anything.  I got such joy giving her this painting and I hope she get joy having it in her home.

THAT is what art is to me the joy of my heart – making me have an artist heart.

Preparing for the Ros S. Seminar

Girls,

Getting ready for a seminar is like getting ready for a trip.  Gathering supplies

CINDY SAYS THAT THE CHAPTER WILL PROVIDE THE PAINTS – Don’t Worry !!!!!!!

Thank goodness one off my list, but what about the surfaces?  I have to think – where? How much?  What size?  So many questions.  Even though you don’t have to have the books they are great, so if you can pick one (almost any one) it is worth the money because she goes into detail about techniques, and you know how much I love to learn.

The oppertunity to  take from this lady is soooooo rare.  Please check with Cindy Moore if you need to sign up ASAP. The Gran dames of painting are leaving more and more.  Remembering a class of teachers gone by is so valuable.  A thing that fills my heart!!!

Cards of CARE

Ladies,

The Internet is a crazy, technical thing, but when it gets information to you so quickly it can be a blessing.  Your cards were waiting for be when I returned from my Dad’s funeral.  Words can not tell you how much it meant to me.  You always remember those that care when you are low.  Art feeds the soul, but friendship warms it.

Thank you,

Jean Parker

Weekly Projects

Well, this week is all about prepping for the Karen Hubbard Seminars.  I have taken from her before and we talked about living in Oregon and how beautiful the state is.  She is a great teacher and you will learn a lot.  Do not forget to prep the boards and have your patterns on with the correct basecoat.

Also remember that we will have lunch catered for about $6 a day.  It will be a great seminar and see you there.
